My uncle told me to never trust a dry forecast in the Rockies
Ignored him last July near Banff and got soaked through my rain shell in 20 minutes. What's the best piece of riding advice you've ever gotten that seemed simple but saved you?

Your uncle was right on the money. I treat every forecast up there as a lie and just pack for a monsoon. The best simple tip I got was to always check the weather at the pass, not the trailhead. It's a totally different world up high. @clairem38 has a good point about socks, but for me it's a full dry base layer rolled up at the bottom of my pack. It's saved me from hypothermia more than once.

Always pack an extra pair of socks, even on a day ride.

Oh, that's smart. I learned the hard way after getting caught in a surprise downpour last spring.
