Warning: I keep seeing people ride the shoulder on Highway 7 near Peterborough
I mean, I get it, the road gets narrow and the gravel can be bad, but it's super dangerous and actually illegal. I was driving out there last Tuesday and saw three different riders doing it within a 20 minute stretch. It's not a bike lane, and cars aren't expecting you to be there, especially around blind corners. Has anyone else noticed this becoming a common thing on certain routes?

Just asking to get hit, honestly.

Saw a study once that said a huge number of bike crashes happen because people ride on the shoulder thinking it's safe. Cars aren't looking for something moving that fast over there, especially on a curve. It creates a blind spot thing. The road might feel bad, but that patch of gravel is way more dangerous when a car drifts over a few inches. Honestly, it just sets up a terrible situation for everyone.

Seriously, what are these people thinking? That shoulder is for broken down cars, not a personal bike lane. It's a great way to cause a huge wreck when someone comes around a corner and you're just chilling there. I don't care if the road is bad, find a different route.
