That time I swore LMI cable was a waste of money on the crane

Yeah, I had a 50-ton crawler start leaning hard on a barge job in Seattle back in 2019. The LMI kept screaming at me for a radius change I didn't think was happening, turned out I'd overshot the barge edge by two feet (stupid mistake, really). It caught it before the load shifted, saved me a dunk in the water for sure.

TIL that 'waterproof' sleeping bag rating is basically a lie

Honestly, "waterproof" and "10,000mm rating" sounds impressive until you're literally sleeping in a puddle inside your own bag. That's not a rating, that's a suggestion. I think the industry just slaps those numbers on there and hopes we don't actually test them in real rain. You'd have better luck wrapping yourself in a trash bag next time, at least you'd stay dry for a few hours.

Self-advocacy training beat legal aid every time for my son's IEP meetings

That's a great story. It reminds me of the time I tried to teach my son to advocate for himself and he told the school board I was "being a little much" about his math accommodations. He wasn't wrong. It's funny how a kid can say the exact same thing you've been saying for months and suddenly it clicks for everyone. Sounds like your daughter learned that skill way earlier than most adults do. I think there's real power in letting them find their own voice, even if it means we have to sit back and keep our mouths shut for a change.

That one job last Thursday made me want to sell my router table

Wait, let me get this straight. You spent a whole weekend making doors and the client called you back to change them on site? Sounds like you missed the part where you install what the customer asks for, not what you always do. Did you show her a sample or a drawing before you started cutting? Because if you did, this is on her. But if you just showed up with your standard 3/8 inch panels and expected her to be cool with it, thats on you man. We all mess up communication sometimes, but 4 hours in 95 degree heat is a good reminder to nail down specs before you start.

Appreciation post: my neighbor made me rethink dollar store wreaths

Wait, was it the same kind of leaves or totally different types? I bought some fake ferns last spring and they turned orange after two days of sun, so I feel like it's a total gamble with this stuff.
