She came back with red marks that took a week to fade, so I switched to using lighter pressure and prepping with a warm compress first. Has anyone else had to dial back their pressure after getting complaints?

Applied for a supervisor job internally and got ghosted for 3 weeks

Put in for a shift lead position at the warehouse back in February. Heard nothing for 3 weeks so I figured they went with someone else. Then out of nowhere they called me in for an interview with the district manager. Turns out HR just dropped the ball on scheduling. I learned that no news doesn't always mean bad news in corporate hiring. Anyone else had a company go completely silent and then circle back?

Overheard a guy say he never cleans his lens contacts

I was at a camera meetup in Seattle last Saturday and this old timer claimed he never wipes the gold contacts on his Canon lenses. Said he just blows on them and that's it. Anyone else run into issues from skipping a proper clean with isopropyl?

The week I got recalled to the same house 3 times turned me into a perfectionist

Last month I had a rough stretch where I kept getting callbacks on a remodel I finished in Lethbridge. First time was a dimmer switch that wouldn't dim right, second was a outlet that tripped the breaker when you plugged in a space heater. Third time the homeowner said a light fixture was buzzing real loud. I felt like a hack at that point. Turns out the first two were bad products from the supply house, but the buzzing was my fault - I didn't tighten a neutral lug enough in the junction box. That third trip took me 20 minutes to fix but it's stuck with me. Now I double check every termination even if I'm running behind, and I haven't had a recall in 3 months. Has anyone else had a string of callbacks that made you change your whole approach?

Picked a $30 rice cooker over a $150 instant pot

I cook rice maybe 4 times a week and kept seeing people rave about instant pots for meal prep. Grabbed a basic Aroma brand cooker from Walmart instead and after 6 months, it still makes perfect rice without all the settings I'd never use. Has anyone else skipped the multi-cooker hype and stuck with a single purpose gadget?

Overheard a guy at Starbucks giving his buddy stock tips from a horoscope app

I was grabbing coffee Tuesday morning and this dude was dead serious telling his friend to buy a random mining stock because his horoscope said Mercury was in a 'retrograde for gains.' The friend actually pulled up his phone to check the app. I nearly choked on my latte. Maybe I am overthinking my whole buy-and-hold strategy with boring index funds. Has anyone else seen people make moves based on something totally off the wall like astrology or a lucky coin?

Took me 3 hours to figure out why my pleats were pulling at the waist...

I was working on a pleated skirt pattern last week and the fabric kept buckling weirdly around the hip curve. Turns out I was pressing the pleats wrong for the specific drape of the cotton twill I used. Standard pressing just flattens everything but the fabric needs a slight curve at the top to follow the body shape. Wasted a whole evening redoing three panels because of that tiny detail. Has anyone else run into weird fabric behavior that changed how you approach pleating patterns?

I was looking up specs on my new chair after it started wobbling 3 months in and discovered a lot of these 'pro' chairs are only tested for like 2000 hours of use, which is basically nothing in a busy shop so has anyone else checked the fine print on chair warranties before buying?

Spent 4 hours trying to figure out why my Catan board wouldn't lay flat

I got a new copy of Catan last week and the hex tiles kept popping up in the middle of games. Drove me crazy. My friend said it was probably humidity but we checked everything. Turns out the cardboard punchboard wasn't fully punched out on one edge. Took a toothpick to it and now it's fine. Has anyone else had a brand new game with bad punch out pieces?

Old-timer told me to use silicone spray on every contact and I laughed

Had a similar thing happen to me about 2 years ago with a big apartment complex. I was using that expensive dielectric grease on all the contacts and kept getting callbacks for false alarms, especially on the garage doors. A fellow installer told me to try CRC silicone spray, and honestly, I thought he was messing with me. But I was desperate, so I gave it a shot, and the difference was night and day. The contacts stopped chattering completely, and I haven't had a single issue since. Now I keep a can in my truck at all times, and I don't even bother with the grease anymore.
