Warning: I used to just ride my old bike through the winter salt in Toronto, but after the chain seized last February I switched to a full winter wash routine and it's a total game changer.

Spot the same thing with my car and my work boots. We put stuff through hell and just expect it to last forever. That salt really sneaks up on you. A little extra care, like wiping down your boots or hitting the car wash, saves so much money and hassle later. It feels good to break that cycle of just using things up.
