Tarp vs. car cover for winter, the moisture difference was huge

I parked my truck under a tarp for 4 months in Denver and it came out with rust spots on the hood where condensation pooled. Switched to a breathable car cover this year, same garage, zero moisture. Anyone else see that much of a difference or did I just get lucky?

My buddy had the exact same thing happen with his Jeep a few years back. He threw a tarp on it for one winter and the hood looked like it had some kind of rash by spring. He switched to one of those soft flannel covers the next year and said it was like night and day, totally dry underneath. The tarp just traps everything, even in a garage, because the air can't move at all. So yeah, your experience lines up with what I saw, I think you made the right call.
