The $40 foam kit I laughed at actually fixed my leaky car cover problem

I bought one of those cheap pool noodle foam tubes from a hardware store in Austin to prop up my sagging SUV cover, figured it was a gimmick. After 3 months of Texas sun and a couple of downpours, the cover doesn't pool water on the roof anymore, and the fabric isn't rubbing raw near the antenna either. It's not fancy, but for $40 it beat the $200 custom frame I was about to order. Anyone else rig up something janky that just worked way better than expected?

Wait, a $40 pool noodle beat a $200 custom frame? How is that even possible?
