A 20 minute chat with a barista made me rethink my whole resume

I was grabbing coffee before a job interview last month in Austin and this barista asked what I did. I gave my usual elevator pitch, and she said, 'That sounds like what you do, not what you care about.' It hit different because I had spent 2 days polishing my resume with all these action verbs. She told me she hires people at the shop based on why they apply, not their past gigs. Now I'm rewriting my resume to lead with my motivation for each role. Has anyone else tried leading with your why instead of your skills?
