A retired guy at my gym told me to stop applying to jobs online and it landed me a $52k offer in 3 weeks
He said that at his age, every job he ever got came from walking in and asking for the manager, so I tried it at 11 places around Columbus and got 4 interviews and one offer, and now I'm wondering if anyone else has had luck just showing up in person.
Showing up in person works even better when you do a little homework first. Find out who the actual hiring manager is and ask for them by name at the front desk, that alone puts you ahead of the 200 people who clicked apply. Bring a one page resume and keep it short, five minutes max, just tell them you're local and ready to start. Columbus has a ton of smaller shops and warehouses that never post online anyway, so those walk ins are basically the only way in.
