Took me 3 years to realize I was organizing my calendar all wrong

I used to block out my whole day in 30 minute chunks, work tasks, meetings, everything. Felt productive but I was always behind, always scrambling. Then about 6 months ago a project manager on a big contract told me: 'You need buffer time between every single thing you do.' At first I thought that was crazy, like I'd be wasting time. But I started adding 15 minute gaps between tasks, no exceptions. Turns out those gaps catch all the little stuff that used to pile up, emails, equipment checks, just breathing. Now I get the same amount done but I'm not running ragged by 2pm. Anyone else have a simple calendar trick that actually worked?

30 minute blocks? Must be nice. I plan my whole day in "how fast can I fix this leak before the customer calls me back" increments.

Man I once tried scheduling a shower and ended up chasing a feral cat through a neighbor's yard.
