Just realized my cutoff saw has made it 14 years on the same blade and I owe it an apology
I used to swap blades every few jobs, figured a fresh edge was worth the money. Then last month I was cleaning the truck and actually wrote down the date on the arbor of that old Diablo, and it hit me that it had been on there since 2011. I dug out my receipts and counted 9 blades I bought in that same stretch, all because I kept pulling a good one off early. That old blade has cut through who knows how many miles of trim and it's still throwing clean chips. I was raised on the idea that a dull blade costs you more than a new one, but nobody ever said how long sharp actually lasts. So now I'm the guy marking dates on blades with a paint pen. How do you all track when a blade is really done, or do you just wait until it starts burning?
