inJust found out my 2 mile bike commute saves me almost 500 bucks a year
Did you ever bike in the rain and realize your shoes squeak the whole time like a dying bird?

inMy grandma's pierogi dough recipe totally changed after a trip to Krakow
wait, you really think it adds nothing? i actually feel the same way sometimes when people start adding extra steps to stuff that works just fine on its own. like, if the original recipe is already solid, why mess with it unless you're trying to fix something broken? sour cream can make things richer but sometimes it just throws off the whole balance and you end up with a mess. honestly, i've tried a few "hacks" like that and half the time i just regret not leaving things alone. you're not alone in feeling like simple is better most of the time.

inHad a week where every pedal I built just worked on the first try, and it messed with my head
Gotta admit @kevin_wells46, sounds more like your soldering was just drying out, not the pedal learning to work.

inHeard a guy at a parts counter say 'just swap the injector' without checking anything else
Gotta admit, I used to be the guy who'd just throw parts at it and hope for the best... thought I was saving time. Then I chased a misfire for three weekends, replaced plugs, coils, even a cam sensor, only to find out it was a cracked ground strap on the battery terminal. Now I force myself to start with a multimeter and a scan tool before buying anything. That $600 injector story of yours really hits home, makes me think twice every time now.

inI compared making beans from dry vs canned and the dry ones won by a mile
Saw a Cook's Illustrated article that said soaking overnight cuts way down on cooking time.
