My old Stanley coping saw vs the new one I grabbed at a garage sale, the old one wins by a mile
Picked up a beat up Stanley coping saw at a garage sale in Tulsa for $3 about two weeks ago, thinking it would just be a backup for the new one I got from the big box store. The old one has a wooden handle that fits my palm perfect and the blade tracks straight through a scribe cut without wandering. The new one flexes in the frame and the blade binds every time I hit a knot. I ended up using the garage sale one for all the crown molding in a kitchen remodel and it cut clean enough that I barely needed to touch it with a file. Anyone else still running old handsaws over the stuff they sell now, or am I just being stubborn?
