Question about the old timer who sharpened my chisels for free in his garage
His name was Walt and he ran a little sharpening setup out of his garage in Akron, Ohio. He looked at my 1 inch chisel, frowned, and said the bevel was all wrong and I was pushing too hard. So he spent 45 minutes showing me how to feel the burr with my thumb instead of guessing, and then wouldn't take my $20. I've been sharpening my own stuff for 6 months now and it's way better. Does anyone else still do it by hand or am I just old school?
