Rant: Spent 3 hours fighting a tek screw that stripped because I ignored the pilot hole rule
Doing a deck rebuild off Fremont Ave last Tuesday. Tried to drive a #10 tek screw straight into a pressure treated joist without pre drilling because I was lazy and the drill was right there. That screw stripped out at the head halfway in, then the bit rounded too. Had to dig it out with vise grips and it took another 45 min to patch the hole with epoxy. Shouldve just spent 2 min drilling first. Anyone else got a stubborn lesson like this or am I the only one who still does this at least once a year?
