Refinished a 1920s oak banister last weekend, 8 hours of stripping and sanding

Client had this dark shellac that was practically black. After stripping down to bare wood and wiping on three coats of Danish oil, the grain came out like honey. Took way longer than I quoted but the before and after shots are insane. Anyone else deal with old shellac that just refuses to come off without a fight?

Danish oil on old oak is just pure magic, grain pops like crazy. Shellac is a nightmare, gotta respect anyone who puts that kind of time into it.
