Spent $95 on a magnetic driver guide and my drill bits still walk off
Bought one of those magnetic bit holder guides about 6 months back because I kept losing bits in sawdust piles on a deck job in Reno. The magnet part works great, bits stick to it, but now I just lose the whole guide instead of the bits, which is somehow worse. My helper Devin keeps finding it clipped to random joists where I set it down and forgot. Feels like I paid $95 for a new way to lose stuff. Anyone got a trick for keeping track of these things that doesn't involve a tool belt I never wear?
The "lose the whole guide instead of the bits" thing is the real problem here. So when Devin finds it clipped to a joist, is it usually because you set it down while you were switching bits, or are you clipping it somewhere thinking you'll grab it on the way back? I ask because I do the second one constantly, I'll hook something on a stud so it's "right there" and then walk right past it twenty minutes later. Where does it usually turn up, up high on the joists or down low where you were working? And does Devin ever watch you set it down and say nothing? Mine does that and it drives me nuts.
