Talked to a cabinetmaker in Seattle about his 15-year-old Japanese pull saw

He said he sharpens it himself every six months and it still cuts cleaner than any new one. Anyone have a tool you've kept alive way past its expected life?

My grandpa's old hammer is basically family now.

Ever think about how that hammer holds the memory of his hands? Like the handle is worn smooth exactly where his grip was. It remembers the angle he hit nails at, the force he used. That's a physical record of his work no photo could ever really show.
