Update: found out the deck ledger bolt spacing I learned 15 yrs ago is outdated and now I'm second guessing every deck I built
Was reading through a building code update on deck ledger attachments and saw the spacing table changed for 1/2 inch lag screws into rim boards, it's tighter now than the old 16 inch on center I was taught. I've got a deck rebuild coming up in Nashville next month and now I'm wondering how many of my older jobs would fail a current inspection. Has anyone else run into this and do you go back and fix old work or just build new ones to current spec?
