I compared making beans from dry vs canned and the dry ones won by a mile

I always used canned black beans but finally tried cooking a bag of dry ones last month and got 4 times as much for the same $2 price. Anyone got a favorite method for cooking big batches without it taking forever?

Saw a Cook's Illustrated article that said soaking overnight cuts way down on cooking time.
