Spent 3 weeks trying to make rice in a coffee pot because my stove broke
Finally figured out the trick is soaking the rice for 20 minutes first and using a 1 to 1.5 water ratio, but I ate crunchy rice for 19 days straight before that. Has anyone else cooked grains in weird appliances when money was tight, and what actually worked for you?
The coffee pot rice struggle is real lol. I did almost the exact same thing with an electric kettle when my gas got shut off for a week. Made instant grits and oatmeal in that thing every day but the rice was always hit or miss. What finally worked for me was putting the rice in a bowl first and then setting the bowl in the kettle with water around it, like a fake double boiler setup. Takes forever but no more crunchy rice, and you can walk away and not babysit it. Crunchy rice for 19 days is rough though, you earned those perfect batches.
