Used to buy pre-made pesto for $6 a jar, now I make a batch for $1.50 in 10 minutes
I was spending way too much on those little jars at the grocery store, like $6 for something that barely covers two pasta dinners. Then I started grabbing a big bunch of basil for $2, some garlic and oil I already had, and it makes way more pesto for less than half the cost. Anyone else found a jarred sauce or condiment that's stupid easy to make cheaper yourself?

Read somewhere that store bought ranch dressing is mostly buttermilk and seasoning packets anyway, so I started mixing my own and it tastes way fresher.

Keep an eye on the sugar content in those seasoning packets though. Most brands add quite a bit to make up for the lack of real herbs.
