Spent $160 on a fancy inspection camera, could've just used a mirror and a flashlight

Last month I bought that little snake camera with the bendy tip from the hardware place in Omaha, thinking it would save me time on checking flue liners for cracks. Turns out for narrow chimneys, the camera kept fogging up and I couldn't see anything anyway, so I gave up and used my old dentist mirror on a stick. Then I left the camera on the roof and it rained, dead on the spot. Anyone else burned money on a gadget that just made the job harder than the basic tools?
