That guy's 'special' vacuum attachment was a total load
Last month a client in Columbus swore his $300 HEPA vacuum attachment could clean creosote without brushing, so I tried it on his 3 year old flue. It just blew dust everywhere and left the glaze intact, my standard 8 inch brush did the job in 20 minutes. Has anyone else tested these gimmick tools or do you stick with the classic steel brush every time?

Man, that brings back a story. My buddy Rick from the shop bought one of those fancy spinning ones, swore it was the future. He used it on a job in Newark and ended up with a coating of fine soot all over his truck and the customer's driveway. Took him an extra hour to clean up the mess, and he still had to go back with the steel brush the next day. That plastic thing's been sitting in his garage ever since, probably good for polishing a hubcap now.
