Unpopular opinion: letting houseplants dry out completely is overhyped

I see people all the time saying wait until the soil is bone dry before watering again. Tried that with my pothos and it drooped for 2 weeks straight. I water mine when the top inch feels dry and they thrive way better now. My spider plant even put out 3 babies last month with this method. Anyone else have plants that just hate the dry-out trend?

Hot take: Thrift store puzzles vs. dollar store puzzles which is better?

Had a debate with my buddy Dave at the Goodwill in Portland last week. He swears by dollar store puzzles because they're sealed and intact, but I pointed out that thrifted puzzles cost way less per piece and you might find vintage Ravensburger for like a buck. Meanwhile Dave got a dollar store puzzle that had a missing piece right out of the box anyway. So which side do you guys lean on for cheap puzzles finished or a gamble on the unknown?

Hit 500 subscribers on my conspiracy channel... small but it feels real

I started this YouTube channel a year ago just ranting about the JFK files and what they hid. 500 people actually clicked subscribe and I cant believe it. My video about the Denver airport murals got the most traction, like 200 of those subs came from that. I figured I'd be stuck at 50 forever... has anyone else seen weird growth from a single video?

Chose a password manager over a notebook after my wallet got stolen in Chicago

Had my wallet swiped on the Blue Line last month, and it had a little notebook with all my logins. Dumb move, I know. I spent two days freaking out about my bank and email accounts before switching to Bitwarden. Anyone else ever have a close call that finally pushed you into better habits?

Dropped $2k on a dedicated fiber line for our office, and it cut our latency in half

After three years of fighting with a shared cable connection that would tank every afternoon, we finally got a quote from a local enterprise ISP in Dallas for a symmetric 500Mbps fiber circuit at $800 a month, and 6 months in it's already paid for itself in saved productivity, has anyone else made the switch from shared to dedicated and seen a similar jump?

Lost a $400 tuner because I didn't label the box properly

I was doing a big retirement home job near Dayton last month, 48 units all needing cable and internet drops. I labeled my van boxes with a marker but it rubbed off after two days in the heat, and I ended up leaving a nice $400 meter at one of the units. Has anyone found a permanent labeling method that holds up to summer temps and rain?

Spent $40 on a fancy garlic press and it broke after 2 months

Picked up this OXO garlic press at Target thinking it'd save me time on taco nights. Thing snapped right at the hinge when I tried to crush three cloves last Tuesday. Now I'm back to using a knife and smashing garlic with the flat side, which honestly works better and costs zero dollars. Anyone else find that simple tools beat the fancy stuff for weeknight cooking?

Visited a shop in Portland that still uses hide glue

Saw this old bindery downtown last week. They were using hide glue for everything. Smelled awful but the guy said his books from 30 years ago still hold up fine. Anyone else ever work with the stuff?
