The sock trick that fixed my cold chimney draft problem
For months I fought a downdraft on the north side of a 1920s house in Buffalo, tried dampers and caps with no luck. Then a retired sweep told me to stuff a sock into the cleanout door gap overnight to stop the air pull, and it worked instantly. Anyone else ever use the simple dumb fixes over fancy equipment?
