Honestly, my apartment's recycling bin is a total mess right now

I was sorting my stuff in Seattle last week and saw my neighbor just dump a greasy pizza box and a plastic bag full of trash right into the blue bin. I said something, but they just shrugged and walked off. Tbh, how do you guys handle it when people in your building just don't care about the rules?

Is it really that big of a deal though? The stuff gets sorted at the plant anyway.

Honestly, when you say "it gets sorted at the plant," that's the part that gets me. I've seen videos of how that sorting works, and it's a mess. Broken glass ruins whole batches of paper, greasy pizza boxes can't be recycled at all. It just feels like we're making someone else's job way harder for no reason.
