Switched from driving to biking for my 3 mile commute about 6 months ago

I used to hop in my truck every morning to get to my job at the hardware store on Elm Street, burning through gas without thinking about it. Then my alternator died and while waiting for the repair I dusted off my old mountain bike and realized the ride only takes 15 minutes and costs me nothing. Has anyone else made a similar change and noticed a big drop in their monthly gas bill?

Thats the thing man, once you realize how much money you're throwing away on little daily habits it kind of messes with your head. It's not just gas either, its oil changes, parking fees, the whole system is designed to make you pay a little every single day without thinking. Same thing with grabbing coffee or lunch out, it adds up so fast you dont see it. People act like these small costs are just the cost of living but they really aren't. You just get so used to the routine you stop questioning why you do it in the first place. Good on you for breaking out of it lol.

Started packing a thermos of coffee, saved $40 a week.
