Had to pick between dry ice and liquid nitrogen for shrinking a bearing seat, picked wrong
Tbh I had a 6 inch bearing race that would not seat in the housing at work in Dayton. I had to choose between dry ice at -109F and liquid nitrogen at -320F, and I went with the dry ice because it was easier to get. Big mistake, the race only shrunk about 0.002 inches and I had to beat it in with a brass drift. Has anyone else had better luck with dry ice on smaller clearances, or is LN2 the only real move for 0.003 plus interference?
