Hot take: I used to run my Haimer probe at the wrong speed for months

I kept getting inconsistent probe readings on my Haas VF-2 and blamed the machine. Finally a guy from the Haas service center in Toledo told me to slow down the probe feed from 50 IPM to 20 IPM. Fixed every false touch reading I had. Anyone else had better luck with slower probe speeds?

Same thing happened on my VF-2ss, drove me crazy for about three weeks before I figured it out. Running at 40 IPM made the probe bounce on thin wall parts and gave me false triggers every time. Dropped it to 15 IPM and never had another bad reading. Also check your probe tip pressure if you haven't already, too much tension will give you the same problems even at slow speeds.

I see it different, slow speed isn't always the fix if the probe tip tension or workholding is the real issue causing those false triggers.
