I was sure that new coolant additive was just snake oil
I mean, the shop got a free sample of this stuff called 'EdgeKeeper' last month and I rolled my eyes. But my boss made me try it on a long run of 4140 steel parts. After three days, the tool life on our roughing end mill went up by almost 20%. I'm still a bit shocked. Has anyone else had a coolant or lube thing actually work that well?

What kind of finish were you getting on those parts? I had something similar happen with a different additive, but it made the surface finish on aluminum way worse even though the tools lasted longer.

Wait, wasn't the whole point that it worked on steel? Aluminum always acts different with that stuff.
