My foreman swore by WD-40 on taps, 3 broken drills later I'm not so sure
Honestly, he said 'just spray it and go' every time we bust a chip in a blind hole, but after snapping three 1/4-20 taps in a row last Thursday on that stainless job near Akron, I'm wondering if he's ever actually used it on a mill, or if that trick is only for hand tapping, anyone else have a shop myth that never holds up?

Tried that trick once on an old Bridgeport, tapped two holes fine then the third one grabbed and snapped clean off. Spent the rest of the afternoon drilling out the broken piece with a carbide bit and cussing up a storm. Some guys swear by stuff just cause they got lucky once, doesn't mean it works for everyone.
