Finally cracked my back issue reading back issues

I have around 300 long boxes in my basement and for months my back hurt after digging through them. Tried a $15 step stool from Target and now I pull the bottom row first instead of bending over. Has anyone else solved storage pain with a simple stool or do you use one of those expensive rack systems?
