I finally stopped trying to get every new #1 issue
I was buying 15 to 20 books a week just to 'keep up,' which was killing my budget and my shelf space. My trick was to pick just two ongoing series to follow monthly and wait for collected editions on everything else. Anyone else find a system that cuts down the weekly pull list madness?

Totally, I switched to trades too (way cheaper).

Isn't the hunt for new books half the fun though? I'd miss that weekly ritual.

You're right about the hunt being fun, willow244. What worked for me was setting a calendar alert to browse online bookstores once a month, which kept some of that ritual feeling. It stopped the random spending but left a dedicated time to look forward to new finds. The key was making it a planned treat instead of an impulse.
