One reader's 3 word review changed how I collect now

I used to buy every variant cover of a series, spending around $80 a month at Midtown Comics on stuff I didn't even like. Then a guy on the subway glanced at my bag and said "all filler, no killer." It stung but he was right, I was just hoarding fluff to feel complete. Now I only grab issues with a writer or artist I actually follow, and my pull list is down to 5 titles. Anyone else get a harsh take that reshaped their buying habits?
