Shoutout to the local comic shop owner who talked me off the pricey variant ledge

Went in for the new Batman issue last Tuesday and almost dropped $80 on a foil variant. The owner, Mike, pointed out the regular cover has the same interior art and suggested I grab two regulars instead, one to read and one to stash. Has anyone else had a shop talk them OUT of spending more? That felt backwards to me until he explained the print run.
