Stuck in a conversation with a 12 year old who basically read all of Marvel in a summer

So I was helping my neighbor's kid set up his new tablet last Saturday, and he starts telling me about how Cyclops was actually right the whole time during the Schism arc. I've been reading comics since I was his age and I never really thought about it that deep, but he laid out like 5 specific reasons from the Utopia era that made me go wait a minute. Hit me different because I always just saw Cyclops as the boring leader guy, but now I'm actually looking into that whole period again. Anyone else ever had a younger fan completely flip your view on a character like that?

Did you try asking him what his top 3 issues were from that run? That helped me get a kid I knew to slow down and actually talk through why he liked a character instead of just dumping every fact he memorized. He pulled out some annual from 2012 I'd completely forgotten about, and suddenly we were both looking up panels on my phone like idiots. It turned the whole thing from a lecture into an actual conversation.
