Finally figured out the quick-release trick for my Kirby Morgan band mask

Been fighting with those stupid retaining pins on my KM 37 for years now. Last week during a job off the coast of Newport, one of the guys showed me you can slot a zip tie through the handle loop to pop them loose in one motion instead of prying with a screwdriver. Saved me a solid 10 minutes on a tank swap. Has anyone else tried this on a 500 series?

Never had a KM 500, but that zip tie trick sounds like a lifesaver for any band mask.

@ sage_park6 respectfully you aint wrong about it being a lifesaver but i gotta push back on the 500 series part. the 500 has that funky side port design where the band sits different so the zip tie trick doesnt work the same way. tried it on my old 500 a few years back and ended up snapping the zip tie inside the handle loop. had to cut the whole thing out with a knife during a surface interval. the 37 is way more forgiving with that handle loop slot design. 500 guys are better off just sticking with the screwdriver method or getting the speed kit that Kirby Morgan sells now.
