Hot take: wearing my bailout bottle on the wrong side almost cost me on a job in Morgan City
Three years back I was doing a dock inspection in Morgan City and my tender handed me my bailout rig set up for the opposite shoulder because that's how he'd been trained. Went to reach for it in a silt out at 40 feet and my hand hit empty water for what felt like 10 seconds. Now before every dive I check which side my bailout is on and I make the tender watch me do it. Anyone else got a check they never skip no matter how rushed the job is?
