Rant: our dive helmets went from fiberglass to fiberglass and plastic in 15 years and nobody told the young guys
I started on a Kirby Morgan 37 in 2009 down at the Port of Long Beach and the shell was solid as a rock, you could drag it across a barge deck and just paint over the gouge. Now half the new helmets I see shipped out have plastic molded parts where metal used to be, and I've watched two guys crack the side block mount in under a year. It's lighter on the neck I'll give them that, but a helmet that fails on a 60 foot stand is not saving anybody's neck. Anybody else notice this shift or am I just getting old and grumpy?
