Tried swapping my old Kirby Morgan band mask for a neck dam setup on a deep dive last week
I figured it would be way more comfortable but honestly I fought water intrusion the whole time and felt like I was gonna lose it if I turned my head too fast. Ended up switching back in the middle of the job. Has anyone else had a weird experience switching mask styles or was it just me? Probably a skill issue but idk.

Brother that is EXACTLY what happened to me last summer on a wreck dive in the Gulf. I thought I was being smart upgrading to a neck dam on my old mask but I swear I spent more time clearing water than actually looking at anything. You turn your head a little too fast and it's like the whole seal just gives up on life. I ended up with a face full of salt and a headache from clamping my jaw shut trying to hold it in place. Gave up after two dives and went right back to my beat up old band mask that I've had for years.

Man, @blair_gibson78 nailed it. I had the same deal on a night dive off Key Largo a few years back. Thought I was moving up to fancy gear but that neck dam turned my mask into a fishbowl every time I looked down. Gave it three dives before I chunked it in the back of the closet and went back to my old, leaky but reliable mask. Sometimes the simple stuff just works better.
