Finally got the nerve to try a full reflow on a dead GTX 1070

Had this old Zotac card from a customer's build that just gave up... no post, no fans. The choice was either to junk it or try a reflow, which I'd only seen in videos. Borrowed a buddy's hot air station, set it to 385 degrees, and went for it. It actually booted up after cooling down, and it's been running a stress test for 3 hours now. Anyone else had luck bringing a card back this way, or is it always just a temporary fix?

Used to think reflows were just a band-aid fix. Seeing a card run a stress test for hours after one really makes you wonder. Maybe they can last if the original issue was just a bad solder joint.

Reminds me of fixing my old Xbox with a heat gun.
