Pro tip: I used to think thermal paste spreaders were a waste of money
Had a client's gaming rig overheating after a CPU swap last week. I always just used the pea method. My buddy in Austin swore by a cheap $8 spreader tool, so I tried it. The temps dropped a solid 10 degrees under load. Anyone else find a small tool that made a big difference you didn't expect?

Wait, a ten degree drop just from using a spreader? That's a massive difference, I always heard the pea method was basically just as good. I guess air pockets must be way more common than I thought.

Oh man, I saw a video where they cut open a spread bag and the spreader made it way more even. The pea method just can't match that consistency, so the temp difference makes sense. Air pockets are probably the main culprit.
