inPaid $200 for a power trowel rental that just made me look like an amateur
Not a nightmare, just tedious. Slow and steady gets it flat.

inI was laying brick for five years before I saw a guy in Cincinnati mix his mud differently
Whoa hold on, @robert64 is out here bragging about a twenty year streak with the same mixing method? That's like saying you've been driving a car with square wheels for two decades just because it still technically moves.

inHad a tablet crash mid-stroke at a gallery show last month
Happens way more than people admit. I've seen it with laptops during live demos, phones dying during important calls. Tech picks the worst moments to fail. @andrew693 probably knows that feeling too. It's like the universe testing your backup plan. We rely on this stuff too much without having a real backup ready.

inFinally realized I was overtorquing washing machine bolts for years
Man, I gotta push back on you pushing back. Eight to ten foot pounds is barely anything, if you're using an impact driver on full power you're way past that. I've seen what happens when people overtighten machine bolts, it's not just snapping them. You warp the frame on those Samsung models, then the drum starts rubbing and you get that godawful thumping noise. Stripping three machines tells me the torque was the problem, not a bad batch of bolts.
