Remember when workplace conspiracy theories were mostly about the break room fridge?

Now it feels like every new policy email sparks a fresh round of whispers about hidden tracking software. How did we get from stolen lunches to assuming our webcams are always on, anyway?

Actually, the old break room stuff was never just about food. People have always worried about being watched at work, it just looked different. There were whispers about phone logs being checked, or managers timing bathroom breaks. The tech got fancier, so the theories did too, from keycard swipe reports to webcam lights.

Right, it's the same old fear wearing new clothes. Before keycards, bosses would literally stand by old punch clocks to see who was late. Now it's automatic reports from door swipes. The dread of a manager hovering turned into stress over software tracking every keystroke or minute spent off a work website. The feeling's identical, just swapped out the tools.

And here I am, a manager, sweating over swipe data too, @jenkins.richard.
