Took me 4 hours to realize my security camera was pointing at a dummy decoy

I spent way too long last week trying to figure out why my backyard cam kept showing nothing but static at night. Turns out the neighbor kid put a fake camera on a stick right in front of mine as a prank. I even climbed up there and swapped the SD card twice before noticing the decoy. Has anyone else had their gear messed with by random kids or neighbors? How'd you handle it without looking like a jerk?

oh man that is way too familiar. couple years back i had a trail cam set up in the woods near my house and kept getting these weird angles like someone was tilting it down. finally went out there and found a kid had zip-tied a little cardboard cutout of a cat over the lens. i was so mad at first then i kinda had to laugh. i just left it and moved the cam to a higher branch.

Wait, hold on. @hugo_singh are you saying a kid actually zip-tied a cardboard cutout to your cam? That's way too much effort for a prank, I'm kinda impressed. I'd be annoyed too but honestly that's like a little piece of art. Did you keep the cutout or just trash it?
