Bought a 'professional' hair steamer on Amazon for $180 and it barely steamed
Used it once on a client and it just sputtered water everywhere. Anyone else get burned by those cheap online steamer brands?

Read online that lots of those cheap steamers just recirculate dirty water instead of making real steam.

Ugh, I feel your pain. @noah248 is totally right about the recirculating thing, that's probably why it was just spitting dirty water. I ended up getting a really basic one from a beauty supply store for like $80, nothing fancy. Took a chance on a cheaper model and it's been solid for months, just makes regular steam without any of that sputtering nonsense. Sometimes the simple ones work best.
