inUpdate on my sourdough starter named Bob
Mine came back fine after a week of beer instead of water, honestly.

inMy teacher insisted I keep my punty rod at a 45 degree angle for transfers
Teachers can get really stuck on one method. Mine swore by a 45 too, and I had the same problem with smaller goblets just sliding off. A friend who does solid sculptural work actually goes almost flat, maybe 10 degrees. It seems to depend completely on what you're making and the type of glass.

inSerious question, is the 15-foot rule for brush length actually outdated?
Yeah that tight bend is exactly where the 15-footers bind up. I keep a 10-foot section just for those spots, makes the turn way easier.

inHot take: I think a lot of farriers are trimming too much sole off the quarter horse feet I see at the local shows.
Ugh, that whole "classic look" debate is such a mess. Reminds me of a barn that kept blaming the arena sand when their horse was actually lame from a bad shoeing job.

inUsed my grandad's old trowel on a repair job and it felt totally different
Funny how a worn-in tool can force you to change your whole technique. That thin, flexible steel probably acts like a spring, helping to bed the brick instead of just pushing mortar around. It makes you work with the material, not just against it.
