Remember when we only used one kind of bleach?

Back in 2010 at the salon in Bakersfield, we basically just had one heavy-duty powder bleach for everything. Now, I've got five different formulas from brands like Wella, each for a specific level of lift and hair type. The change happened over the last decade as clients started wanting more natural, lived-in looks instead of blocky platinum. What's the most specialized lightening product you've added to your kit recently?

Funny how the shift towards softer color made the product list way more technical. My newest addition is a cream bleach just for on-scalp use with 20 vol, which feels oddly specific.

Totally get what you mean about the technical list. Honestly, used to think all bleach was basically the same. Grabbing a specific cream formula for the scalp changed that for me. It just processes so much differently and feels safer up close. Makes you realize the old powder and bottle method was pretty rough. Now it seems obvious to have the right tool for such a sensitive job.
