Dropped $200 on that fancy dice tower and it's a dust magnet

Oh man, $200 for a dust magnet that's basically a felt cat toy now. I mean maybe just hit it with a lint roller real gentle and hope the dice don't notice?

Tried to cut a 2 inch deep pocket in aluminum with a 1/4 inch end mill because I was out of the right tool.

Yeah that aluminum just sucks up all the heat when you push a small tool like that. Been there. You can sometimes save it by taking crazy light passes and blasting it with coolant, but it's a gamble. Once had to finish a slot with a drill bit because a mill broke, left a weird stepped finish but it held tolerance. The machine doesn't know the tool is wrong, it just does what you tell it.

Serious question, my kid asked me why some rocks are sparkly and others aren't

You ever think about how long that rock has been around? I used to only care about the pretty ones too, but you're right. That plain gray stone could be older than anything else you'll ever touch. It's got a whole story of being broken and moved by ice or water. Kinda makes you want to go look at your yard differently.

My uncle in Phoenix said his AC bill dropped $50 a month after planting a single shade tree.

Remember reading about a guy who painted his flat roof white with that reflective coating. He said his upstairs rooms felt ten degrees cooler almost right away, and his AC didn't run nearly as much. Made me wonder about all the dark roofs in my own neighborhood just baking in the sun all day.

Our book club in Tacoma almost fell apart last month over a single character's motivation.

Ngl susansingh, sometimes I wonder if we make a bigger deal out of this than needed. Most people just skim headlines and move on with their day, they don't actually get that invested. Sure, some folks online get loud, but that's a small group. Mapping things out helps, but for a lot of daily news, does it really change anything? Feels like we're overthinking how much most people even care about the facts.
