That chat with a barber about razor blades made me rethink my whole kit

Talked to this old-school barber at a trade show last month who said he only uses one brand of blade for fades, nothing else. He told me 'your tools are only as good as how consistent you keep them' and it hit me that I swap between four different brands depending on what's on sale. Has anyone else found that one blade brand that just works better for their technique?

Oh man, that barber is totally right. It's like with kitchen knives my buddy swears by one brand and the rest of us are just grabbing whatever's cheapest at the grocery store. There's something to be said for getting so used to one tool that you don't even have to think about it anymore. I finally settled on a single blade brand just a couple months ago for my own stuff and it's wild how much smoother everything goes when you're not second-guessing your gear every time.

Totally get that, isn't it funny how much brain space you free up once you stop hunting for the "perfect" tool and just commit to one thing? It's the same with my sewing needles, once I found my go-to brand I never looked back.
